Announcement 12/30:

To all members of St Paul:

On Friday, December 27th, Pastor Janet fell and fractured her ankle. She had surgery and has been told by her physician that she will need to take 3 months medical leave. She is not home yet, but when she returns home, we would like to send greeting cards. If you have a card you would like to send to Pastor Janet, please drop it off in the church office and Brittany can get it sent to her.
          We will keep you informed of any future plans for an interim pastor and Pastor Janet’s progress. If you have any questions, please contact the church office at 815-288-2757. Please keep Pastor Janet in your prayers.

Notes from Buddy Bag Meeting Oct 29

  • The next meeting will be held on November 12th at 7:00 p.m.
  • Jane talked about shelving. We need shelving by 1st week of December.
  • Joyce talked about name being Buddy Bags of Dixon and underneath St Paul Lutheran Church.
  • Churches identified 4 items that their church would provide.
  • Talked about Bay Valley and Crest Foods for food donations.
  • Permission slip was taken to Washington School and will be given out in November
  • Drop off date for food items will be on 1st and 2nd Wednesday of the month from 6:00-7:00 p.m. 1st Delivery will be on December 4th.
  • $500.00 donation from Thrivent Financial and donations from the members of St. Paul Lutheran Church.
  • Checks should be made out to Buddy Bags of Dixon with St. Paul Lutheran Church on it (but for now have checks written out to St Paul with Buddy Bags in Memo line)
  • Discussed the development of a Facebook page.
  • Discussed procedure for Thanks Yous for donations of either food or money.
  • Talked about getting a bank account opened.

Trunk or Treat 2013

St Paul will be hosting their annual Trunk or Treat on Sunday, October 27th immediately following the 11:00 a.m. Contemporary Service. We will have games, crafts, trick or treating and a hot dog lunch. This event is free and EVERYONE is welcome to join us! If you would like to volunteer to help, please call the church office at 815-288-2757.

Toddlers & 2's Bible School Class

The Church is currently working on a new class aimed towards 2 year olds and toddlers. The class will be ages 2-4 and will meet on Sundays for about an hour. This class will start on Sunday, September 15th at a time to be announced. The teacher of this class is Brittany Moore, and the curriculum includes lots of fun music, stories, coloring pages, and much more! This will be a fun place for Moms and Dads to take their young children to learn about Jesus. Parents are welcome to come help out in class! If you are interested, please call the church at 815-288-2757 between 9:00-2:00 Monday through Friday.

Lasagna Dinner

Just a reminder that the Lasagna Dinner Fundraiser for the victims of the Moore, OK Tornadoes will be this Friday from 4:30-6:30. The church is still in need of baked goods for the bake sale and baskets for the raffles. If you have any donations, please bring them in to the church office. Thank you and God Bless.

Meeting on Service Times for Fall 2013

The Council appreciates your opinions on the services which we have in the fall. Therefore, we invite you to an open forum on Sunday, July 28 at 9:30 AM.. Please give the service your thoughts and prayers and come to the dialog on what is best for the congregation.

The Council will consider your discussion and will make a final decision at the Council meeting on August 8. We hope to have a productive discussion and good attendance.

Leadership is a trait that the young people of St. Paul are clearly showing!

 

SET AND READY TO GO!  We are signed up for our mission trip!!  From July 21 to 26, our youth and adults are in St. Paul, Minnesota!  We are working with local agencies and helping with various projects.  Our trekkers are Katie Bell, Zoey Colglazier, Sarah Krug (All Saints, Byron) Ashley Mulkins, Faith Garnhart, Philip Garnhart, Rob Colglazier and Peg Miller.  We report to the congregation at the 5:30 service, July 27.  If you see us anytime, ask about our adventures.  We will be glad to share.  We also want to thank the council, St. Paul Ministries and the congregation for your generous and continual support!

Summer Worship Assistants

Due to summer worship hours, there are no assigned worship assistants for the Saturday night service.  If you would like to volunteer for that 5:30 pm worship, your service would be much appreciated

Rachel Circle Group Dinner


 The Rachel Circle group will be attending a dinner at River’s Edge Restaurant in Dixon on August 13. We will carpool from the church at 5:30 p.m. and the dinner starts at 6:00 p.m. Please call Janet Searls at 815-288-6411 to let her know if you will be going.

Summer Service Schedule

During the summer months, we only have two weekend services, as opposed to the usual three. We worship on Saturday nights at 5:30 pm and Sunday mornings at 10:45. The Sunday 8:15 worship is currently on hiatus until the end of summer. We welcome everyone to come worship with us at either of those times. The church office is still open Monday-Friday from 9:00 am to 2 pm.

Lasagne Fundraiser Dinner

The Outreach Mission Team is planning a community outreach activity. We will have a Lasagna Dinner Fundraiser to donate money to the people of Moore, OK on Friday, August 2nd, 2013 in our church fellowship hall. The dinner will be served from 4:30-6:30 pm and the raffles will be available from 6:30-7:30 pm. You do not need to be present to win. Tickets for the dinner are $7.00 for adults and $4.00 for children. Children 3 and under will be free. Raffle tickets available at the event will be $1.00 a piece or 6 for $5.00. You can purchase your tickets in the church office. Hope to see you all there!

Notice of One Service on January 27th.

Only one church service will be held on Sunday, January 27, 2013 at 8:15 a.m. with the annual meeting to follow. There will be no service on Saturday, January 26th at 5:30 p.m. or Sunday, January 27th at 11:00 a.m.

Forum


A forum will be held on Sunday, January 20, 2013 at 9:30 a.m. for a preview of the Congregational Meeting with the Constitution review.

All Church Retreat


You are invited to join us for a Retreat. We encourage each member of the congregation to join us. We can not stop this wonderful process of prayer and study that was started this year with the Unbinding Series. We are asking you to set aside Saturday, January 19, 2013 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. with luncheon provided at noon. Please join us!
